Should we be remembering Scotland's wartime past or do you think it would be better to concentrate on making the world a safer place for future generations?

Thoughts, please!

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.[1]

I think this quote via wikipedia contributes one answer to the question you pose.

And here's another quote:

We have to do with the past only as we can make it useful to the present and the future.
--Frederick Douglass
We should remember those that gave their all so that we can live in peace today, building on a future in prosperity tomorrow.
We should do both. By looking at the wartime past we can see the sacrifices that were made for us and appreciate that we need to work hard to keep our world safe. We in the west should also be aware of the power of the media in how we see wars today and question whether 'wars of terror' for example are making the world safer or more open to attack.
I think that remembering the past can and will help for a peacefull future , the two are inseparable subjects.
