Hi Ken, Vancouver seems to have been popular with the Brits,my uncle originally lived in a place called Duncan in Vancouver,but in his retirement years moved to Toronto.
A couple of things for you to check out if you hav'nt all ready :)
and did you know their is a 'Yangtse' garden at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alweras Staffordshire with a tree dedicated to each of the four ships.

They must have known each other then,sadly my uncle passed away in Canada in the early nineties,Whilst in Canada he worked on a weather ship and lastly on 'Maggie' the ferry that ran from Vancouver to Seattle.
He emigrated in the 50's so i was never able to talk to him about the Black Swan or his experiences. Do you have any photos or reflections from your uncle ?
