Hi Ken, Vancouver seems to have been popular with the Brits,my uncle originally lived in a place called Duncan in Vancouver,but in his retirement years moved to Toronto.

They must have known each other then,sadly my uncle passed away in Canada in the early nineties,Whilst in Canada he worked on a weather ship and lastly on 'Maggie' the ferry that ran from Vancouver…

My uncle Kenneth Champkin was also an engineer on HMS Black Swan at the time of the Yangtse River Incident.

and did you know their is a 'Yangtse' garden at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alweras Staffordshire with a tree dedicated to each of the four ships.

He emigrated in the 50's so i was never able to talk to him about the Black Swan or his experiences. Do you have any photos or reflections from your uncle ?
